And you guys will say not again
the problem lies that ive modeled a chemelion in 3ds max and then taken it to z brush for refinement and adding more details. after taking it up to more subdivision levels i was happy bout the whole thing. and i got ****ed up when it came to uv mapping. so im doing it all over again from scratch but would like to know how to proceed step by step.

Doing What, all over? Modelling or uvmapping. Theres plenty of ways to avoid doing your work all over. Export the lowest level of the mesh back to max, uvmap it, and import back while the tool is active. This should update your uvmap. Not to mention there is auvtiles and guvtiles if you want to one-click-uvmap in zbrush.And yes, "not again" is what I said:) There should be plenty of different solution mentioned in older posts both here and on zbrushcentral.com
