Hi & welcome. That's a very interesting half circle brush you're using..it gives a lot of depth. What program are you painting with?
If you're wanting to study anatomy get a good book and practice by sketching from it. One I'd recommend is by Jack Hamm, drawing the head & figure.

I'm thinking my scan of the sketchbook is looking a little grainy. when i try upping the res' on the scanner it wont scan at all, i tried playing with the levels. i'm open to suggestions.

Hey, nice sketches, I like the creature of the thread #9 and the human study of #8,,,perhaps would be great if you add more contrast or dark values on them to get a bit more of volume, looking forward for more! cheers.

some gestures... the red monochrome thing is some old doodles compiled which ive been adding shadows & playin with the light sourceux.

adding more lights and darks 30% on a new dark layer wth eraser & brush tools. & a further layer of light on top.
And a desture noodle from imagination. I'm due for a refrenced portrait.

anatomy of a boxer, i think the edges on the right cheek are a wee bit to hard & his right shoulder looks like it couuld do with some more muscle ..

getting the hang of values now not woeing about details playing with z brush helped make photoshop seem easier
