I've been messing about with some footage, using Icarus camera matching tools, 3dsmax5/Brazl R/S, and after effects to come up with this short clip. I'm aware of a few errors, but I can improve next time I work on something like this. Here's the clip (Aprox. 4mb, divx)

I think the camera matching is great, but it would be good if the roboter would be animated.

I always think these kinda stuff is so cool, incorporating a 3d animation in a real world video footage
good job
how does it actually work tho? just by using after effects?
ne1 know if therez any tutorial online on this kinda stuff?

again, nice

the camera tracking seems to be good, but I think the camera himself is shaking too much. a little bit of animation in that would be even better.

perhaps a HDRI Render of the bot would make it look better.

I would tone down the camera movement, otherwise it looks pretty good.

When I first played around with Icarus I was so stoked about trying it that all the test footage I shot for it looked like I was having a stroke.

for some reason, the shadow of the robot moves a few feet along the pavement even though the light source isn't moving and the robot isn't moving. what's the deal with that? cool other than that.

yeah the camera movements are a bit over the top, it's basically me walking to the shop :-) I guess it's a good test of what the camera matching software can do though!

sbv20 - I agree about the shadow issue, that's one of the errors, it's not perfectly matched.

There will be an animation on the way! :-)

Excellent stuff here.
Animating the robot would really finish this...even just the arrms or upper body moving.

i only saw the pic so im sorry if im wrong... but i don't see the bot's reflection on the window...

P_T - you are right here. MAX's matte/shadow material should have sucessfully given me reflections but it was causing so much trouble and I couldn't get it to work.

The model was made AGES ago, when I was about 14 or 15, and I also animated it then so I've got lots of old stuff that i can go and play about with for projects like this, which is great.

The animation is ready to go, it's the setting up and rendering that's gonna take the time.

Very nice, you may want to redo the camera work, mainly as you get closer. It seems an awful lot like it's an everyday occurance to see a massive combat mech standing on a sidewalk. You should maybe look upwards as you walk by the mech.

Very nice though.

Nice. I like it!
Messing around with same stuff myself. For my
midterm-exam. Using boujou 2.1.
Don't know if I'll get the same nice result as you, but
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Anyways... Nice work!
