The colors are very pleasing to the eye, somewhat soothing . . .

Crits:

Looks like you over did it with the rays coming from the sun. If you're set on keeping them in the scene, try making them more random and subtle.

The fog doesn't at all look realistic. I'm not quite sure how to fix this, but my recommendation is to make the fog appear cloudy, distorted, as if it's made up of several different pieces, instead of having it look like a very transparent lake.

The mountains look like they're made in 3d. I'm not sure whether or not it's the textures, or the models themselves, or a combination of both, but it's very obvious. You could probably definitely do to add some detail to the textures, and randomize the placement of the mountains some more, they look to organized.

Hope this helps some.

Well it definetly has a very nice feel to it, so compliments on that.
Technically though, it still needs a little work. The fog doesn't really integrate too well, and the mounttains still look pretty cg. A lot of that can probably be fixed in photoshop. I think the mountains look too round though... no sharp edges, and there's not enough of a feel of scale.

A bit more work, and this will be an awesome pic :)

Cheers,

Jens

very nice colour scheme.

not sure if that is supposed to be glacier or cloud surrounding the mountains. If it is glacier try adding some crevices and color irregularities. If it is supposed to be clouds what about making the transition from the light to dense areas more gradual and add in more surface irregularity.

mountains are too smooth and slick, they look more like they are shaped from wet mud than rock. Have you put a noise modifier on your mesh?

great start, it will definitely be a nice piece when done.

Nice feel, reminds me of the final shot in Final Fantasy TSW, but lots of details need fine tuning, primarily the ground fog and mountains, check out the Terragen gallery at Renderosity in the link below and study the images carefully, then try to apply the look across to your image, observation is the key here:

thnx guys, about the mountain uniformity, the terrain is made by an heightmap of an actual geographic area so the data is real... about the texture, its lowres :\ and with a bumpmap to try to cover it...

I'll get around to work on it later today (after school)
