Considering it does so much for itself, I feel it should have a forum here. Not really for itself but for what it has to offer users of other apps
Here is an example of Pixolator (the creator of ZBrush) releasing his own results on extremely high poly count handling abilities in this soon to be released ZBrush version 1.60. High Res Mesh Test Image (http://209.132.69.82/uploaded_from_zbc/200304/user_image-1050907859hrt.jpg)
The thread can be seen here. (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010822)
I will be posting some other examples of the coming power of ZBrush...just have to go dig them up...but here are two threads on Displacement mapping (which can be exported to other apps). The beauty of DMapping in ZBrush is that it is polygon resolution independant...thats right!!! Check this out in this thread on ZBrush Displacement Mapping Preview 1 (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008794).
Here is another thread previewing this feature. ZBrush Displacement Mapping Preview 2 (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008794). The great thing in this thread is the preview of some sort of native animation. Thats right kiddies, Animation with ZBrush!!! (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008794&p=3)
On a side note, one of the reason I would like to see a forum here is that it seems to me that some people here seem to not like zbrush or consider it a useful tool...even though CGtalk faithfully promotes it with ads on the home page (this seems to pass these users by). Why else would they do so if they didnt feel ZB to be something to seriously consider. I do admit that this is all assumption.
On another side note, Rhino is another modeler that seems to be overlooked here. Though I dont use it, I do have several friends who do. From what I have seen coming out of, its great prop...but how many people actually have it???
Thanks everyone for letting me stand on a soap box for a few.
