View Full Version : Futuristic sword (katana-like)
malc0lm 04-21-2003, 04:31 PM lo all!
Story is as follows:
In the year 2031 a new sport evolves, a new kind of
martial arts. They use new technologi to create ancient
weapons. The fighting arena is a big platform surrounded
by the audience. The arena is also seperated from the
audience sinces its a hovering plattform.
All this action takes place a couple of miles up in the air,
so falling off the platform is leathal.
With that said, here's my model :)
C&C welcome

I'd put glowing stuff on the sword... other than that... it's about as swords-like as a sword can get!

squidinc...you scare me...you need to get out more bud...
malc0lm: like it...now all you gotta do is model the arena!! Oooh my god!! anyways like it...i would prefer the chrome bit on the end of the handle to be not chrome....or all three groves to be chrome like the scabbard part...hope you get what i mean...if note chrome...maybe some energy thing...but could be a fine line between looking cool and looking naff...so ya gotta be careful... nice materials.

Thanks for all the comments!
I tried some glowing stuff of it but it just looked tacky so I skipped that idea.
Im trying to put In some more details on the handle but im fresh out of ideas
Gonna try to implement some ideas from Squidincs bad-ass sword (man, I wouldnt wanna meet you in a dark alley).
Im not happy with the material on the handle too, was going for a carbon-compisite (is that the name?) first but I couldnt even get near that result :hmm:
BTW, done some minor updates on the sword, it now has some grip bumps on top and the grip thingy underneath is no more round edged (if you know what I mean...)
Im thinking of a design of a Long Sword too, gonna start today or tomorrow on that one prolly.
Cheers

Made a little sketch in C4D in about 15 or so minutes, would like some input.
Which do you guys prefer (or the orginal one)?

i like the glowies...but IMO the blade needs to be longer...it looks like a tanto...a little to short for my tastes.

I prefer the one without the glow, mainly because I can't think of any reason why a sword would glow, unless its a lightsaber, and besides, how can you sneak up on someone with a sword thats lit up like a torch :D

I love the texturing. Especially on the scabbard. One thought, I would like to see the scabbard flat on the end of it, instead of pointy.

glow is nice but if you doit without glow and put some nice looking spikes there like on that sword from blade it would be nice :) and make the blade bit longer
