Hi Everyone,

Want to improve and fast track your low polygon character modelling training? Then jump into Low Polygon Character Modeling IV with Autodesk Certified Instructor and author of Harnessing 3ds Max 8, Michele Bousquet.

In this 8 week class, Michele Bousquet returns and goes beyond basic polygon modeling to show students the most important tools and best workflow for modeling characters. Students will be given step-by-step instruction to learn the necessary skills, organizational techniques and most effective ways to use 3D applications to create low polygon models. Students can model any creature they wish, as the principles for low-poly character modeling are the same for humanoid and non-humanoid characters.

Student numbers will be limited to 35 places only. This class is open for enrolments now so for more details go to Low Polygon Character Modeling IV with Michele Bousquet (http://workshops.cgsociety.org/courses/000059/)

Seriously considering this course, but it will be a pretty big financial investment for me, so I have some questions:

Does anyone who has taken this before have any comments on it?
There's been a steady price increase (from $399 to $499) of this course over time - has this course been evolving (improving)? Or is it an exact repeat of the previous 3 iterations?
What does this course offer that cannot be found in a book or online tutorials?
This is a topic that I am very interested in right now, but I'm trying to decide if this type of learning experience is worth it compared to spending $50 on a book. I've never tried an online course before, so any insight would be very much appreciated.

I feel exactly the same as asphalt. Im very interested in taking this course and it is a big financial investment for myself as well. Is there a forum/thread that prople discuss this workshop or past interations of this workshop? Seeing peoples comments would help me be more comfortable about signing up. Thank you

1. On the enrolment page, there are a number of testimonials from past students. We do send feedback surveys to our students in order to obtain their opinions on satisfaction and potential improvements. Using this information, we are able to keep the workshop fresh and relevant to students' needs.

2. As our workshops continue to grow and evolve, we have attracted more high profile instructors to provide the highest levels of content. We are well advanced in working with our instructors to make video delivery the standard for all of our workshops which requires additional instructor time. Regarding Micheles' workshop, this has been continuously updated -- version IV has some added content and videos.

3. The difference between a book and an online workshop is interaction. You are presented with text and video instructions each week which you work through together with the rest of the class. The crucial difference between online tutorials/books and our workshops is that you are able to interact with your fellow students, and the instructor is available to guide you through the learning process.

I hope this gives you a better understanding of the CGWorkshops.
