This could really turn out to be a cool animation but you have ways to go yet :)
Overall, the character just seems way too "stiff" especially in the legs. When he swats the ball as it comes back the movement seems very robotic. Some things you can do is think about the forces that are being applied to the ball...the force which was generated by your character.
The initial energy is from the shoulder to get the ball to start bouncing. When he gets ready to send the ball on it's way you start to build center mass. So where's the anticipation when he smacks the ball? It just appears out of now where.
At the force at which the ball is being hit your characters weight is shifting to the front leg as your center mass is now out in front. You can exhibit some weight here and show your character trying to maintain balance as he hits the hell out the ball. This is also a good opportunity for some secondary animation with your characters limbs showing some follow through and overlap to actual make the motion seem believeable.
Overall, I think this is a pretty neat little idea and can turn out nice. I'd proabably look up some reference video of some tennis/racket/handball players on youtube.

Well after flu and hollidays have some time to tweak the animation and final composition. The 06 composition is like it was before and the 07 is fairly equal times for the ball to travel.
