Started coloring the picture in Photoshop. I hope to have it nearly done by the end of the week, time permitting. I'm working on some 3D stuff, so I'll probably not get it completely finished this week. Thanks for viewing!

Please note that I haven't yet finished the altered version incorporating the suggestions for the drawing you all were kind enough to give me. I'll be sure to post that when I do too.

Wow...the silence is deafening. This is what happens when I don't have new 3D stuff, huh? j/k.

looks awesome man..care to describe your technique to an awe inspired new comer to coloring in photoshop?..(kinda like what brush you use..how you make it looks so nice and smooth..and exact)

Well, first: THanks for taking the time to comment!

Um...so, how best to answer?

First it helps to have some decent line work to use (Itchi (http://www.itchstudios.com/) has some great stuff if you want to try it out). Then, what I did, was duplicate the line work onto a new layer and set it to multiply. This keeps my lines from getting all messed up as I paint. I then make a new layer for the base tone, shadows, and highlights for each object in the scene. I paint on these individual layers building my tones up and not really caring if I go outside the lines some. Once I have it where I like it, I use the background layer to make selections and (with the selections still active) I switch over to whatever layer I went outside the lines on. Using the inverse of the selection, I clear away any unwanted color. The rest is just planning, testing, and some basic understanding of anatomy.

Hope that helped and thanks again!

Anytime and me too! I'm a little worried about the mountains in the background....and the grass in the foreground ( I shouldn't have gone nuts and shaded the grass in like that). Again, big thanks.

does the left (his right) leg look abit unnatural to anyone else as it exists the shorts? Looks like it bends at an odd angle that doesn't seem to follow where his bones would be.

else I like it

Yeah, sometimes this place is weird. :insane: The leg is one of the changes that was mentioned in the pencil sketch (I posted that in the Gallery/Finished Work forum). There was also some question about the length of his neck. :) I just couldn't wait to color it, so I went ahead and started before the changes were made. The next one will be better overall. Promise. :D

Thanks for looking!

Personally I don't mind the long neck, because after all it's a cartoon-based picture and it looks more in place. I really think it's a wonderful piece of work!

That is a nice compliment! :) If only it were that easy. I like your site, I could never get the hang of all that flash stuff. Relaly cool and really cool work too. Especially like the images of the ship. A Frigate?

I love it so far, I love the technique.

I have a question from the not so "mature" audience in my C++ class, why is his left hand placed where it is?

as for me, keep going, I wanna see the end product! :buttrock:

Thanks. I really do have to finish this sometime. :) As to the question...he split his pants and is kind of embarrassed.
