Hello again,

I'm thinking of buying a new computer, and would like to have some toughts of the following:

1. CPU / OS, - I'm thinking core2quad Q6600 with Windows XP 64bit edition. Anyone have any experience of running Blender on such setting?

2. PNY Quadro FX 560 display adapter. It's Nvidia, capable of dual screen output and somewhat geared to 3D. It also seems to have driver support for 64 bit windows. But has anybody actually used it? All smooth with Blender?

All input on this is greatly appreciated, since I have no experience on multi-core CPU:s or 64 bit environment.

And no, Linux is not an option. =)

I take it there's not going to be a lot of support in here, should I purchase the PNY - card...

I think not many people use windows 64 bit yet...
Are you sure you'll get support for all this? special 64-bit drivers for all your hardware? I would double-check that before buying... I imagine the frustration having brand-new hardware and no driver.

For the PNY card I have no idea, but usually nvidia is the safest choice of all...

PNY card has Nvidia chipset and 64 bit windows support. I also checked all other hardware for win64 bit support, and it seems not to be a problem. The only things I can't find any information is to wether or not Blender will work ok with the display adapter and win64bit. It would really be frustrating to invest on a machine I couldn't use for what I buy it for. After all, buying a "high end" 3D package is out of my price range. I'm doing paid work with the software, so educational or "unlimited tryout period" software are not an option here.
