azloep 12-14-2007, 12:15 PM i am trying to use shine. i made a black solid layer. and use pen tool to make a mask. then i apply a adjustment layer on top of the solid layer. this adjustment layer is applied with shine. but there is nothing to be seen.
i am trying to use the black solid layer as a mask to limit the light of the shine to pass through.
wht had i done wrong.

Don't use black.

Hello
I think Shine works mainly on the luminance of the source.
To get used to the effect, try applying it on a move or picture.
Also, in the LAST PROPERTY of the effect, try to change the defauld NONE to NORMAL, ADD, OVERLAY, etc...
Shine won't work as expect in a solid color...by default it changes the colours to a red-orange-yellow tritone result. It can be changed, of course.
Other than using an adj layer, try pre-composing the solid with the above layer, and apply shine to the pre-comp.
