View Full Version : What book?
RichGC 04-21-2003, 01:46 AM Hey all, I started 3D Max recently (very recently actually 2 days to be precise :) ) as I am doing a course next year which will involve it.
Myself and a friend decided to get a head start on this and did the dresser tutorial, we have also experimented with a couple of other things but not gone into to much detail.
I decided to buy a book on 3D Max which I am going to get tomorow. I am a total newb and would like a book that realises this, I would like it to have some tutorials but also to explains stuff as well like what box modelling, nurbs are as im not too familiar with the lingo.
It would be good if it had a CD and movies but it is not a necessity. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou :p

the tutorials that come with max rock! i would go through those before you spend 50 bucks on a book.
good luck:buttrock:

There's nothing like getting information from the source, the creators of the software. In this case that would be the help and tutorial files included with max. Definitely exhaust those resources first before shelling out the 50 clams on a third-party book. Then wait until your course starts and the instructor will likely give you a list of recommended books to get.

hehe thanks guys I have been exhausting the resources :) but im not buying the book, my mum is and she offered since I could use it next year . Im in the UK though and in the course im doing its two years and we only do 3D Max in the second year for a small part but I wanna go into it further. Silmar I will see what that book is like when I go down in about an hour :) Although at the moment I have 3D Max 4.2 as my parents got it cheap off a friend who was upgrading to 5 :) I assume version 4 of fundamentals is good?
Anyway thanks for ur help and I will take a look when I go down. Don't worry I will work hard on the tutorials as well :) Ive done the asteroid and Ping Pong table one already :)
