Im making a siege tank from starcraft(ghost more specifically), the model is finished for the most part, still a few things to add/tweak. gotta add textures and a scene still obviously :)

Hard part is textures :) im not very good at texturing/lighting but im guna go for a realistic look with this, or try as good i can anyway heh....

c&c welcome, tho i dont expect much cuz im a newbie compared to most here =P

/me is a n00b :)

i think its cool, but u should make the tracks more detailed, and like real tank tracks, although it may not be like that in-game.

also, i think u should cast a lil more shadow over ur model in the render to pick out the details.

well this is the reference picture, the threads i made arent exact, but close :)

http://www.blizzard.com/images/ghost/screenshots/art19.jpg

also i made them a little bigger in length because in original starcraft the back ones are bigger than the front, the ones in that ghost picture look to be the same size :)

thanks for the comments and hmm im not sure how long it took, i worked on it off and on yesterday and this morning

bad ass dude
it looks just like the picture from blizard

wahts it going to look like in seige mode

and you just ahve to get that thing textured and lit in the proper environment

that would be soo awsome

good job

im wondering that too ;) seems like they changed the gun/turret on the ghost version a bit

i can see that the disks on the side and back are the things that clamp down

i will reinstall starcraft sooner or later and see how exactly the turret changes in siege mode hehe :)

Can you make the final texturemap free for public?

Btw: looks really good! the konzept is not yours but the 'sameness' (is that a word?) is awsome!

Keep it up :)

(sorry for my bad english)

The front turret gets pulled in, and the shock cannon comes out on the other side, then it spinns around on the round plate under the side turrets or whatever they are :)

The texture looks good so far, parhapps some rust would be nice in cravices where water usually dont drain away...
Nice model! :) how about a archon? :) with Psionic energy coming from everywhere like fire from the balrog!

Oh and BTW, check out blizzard insider archive, there is a interview with their CG department, you get to see a rendered Zergling, and ultralisk. The Zergling is REALY kick-ass!!

They way it transforms into seige mode is really cool and a neat design on blizzard's part. The first time I saw it (back when I was a newb at sc, now I am 1337 hax0rz lol), I almost shat myself cuz it was so cool.

Anyways, here is what happens:

The two barrels on the turrent go inwards towarsd the turrent until only about 1/4 of them are still visible. In turn this pushes a bigger barrel from the rear of the turrent out. It's weird because the new barrel is double the length of the original barrels but it is completely hidden (except for the tip) when in tank mode.

Such a big cannon needs support (otherwise the tank and the two poor drivers would flying off due to recoil) so three support bars are deployed (simular to those found on those big CAT construction vehicles). That big circular thing you see under the turrent is acutally one of the support legs. There is another one on the other side. They both move outwards and down until they are firmly planted on the ground (in the game i think you can see a little puff of dust as it hits the ground). The thrid support leg does the same thing, but it is located in the back of the tank.
If you look closely at the ref. pic and Nick's model you can see the third leg's "foot" (the circular thing).

... I think I play too much SC...

Oh yeah I know this stuff cuz back in the day I acutally modelled a fully transformable seige tank out of Lego's.
