looking pretty good so far, the knee looks a little too weighted/sharp but other wise very nice, I hate when you can see a dogs ribs so clearly, but your doing a good job of modeling it.

i draw that dog about ten years ago on a trip in asia ..got special feeling with and the drawing is one of the few i'm proud of..
she was the skinnyest dog i've ever saw but still healthy (by the time)
about the knees .. i dont have shave so i'm thinking of modeling roughly the longer hairs part (like knees or tail ) and then use an alpha on the texture ..is this possible ? (remember i'm really a newbee )
thanks for comments

hmm you might be able to use chanlum.

http://www.happyship.com/ to simulate some short fur.

this isnt a hairy dog so you arent necessarily gonna need shave for it.

I agree, short fur is very similar to velvet, check out the velvet thread thats here, or look in the material shader resource up in the subforums

i've played around a bit with chanlum .. to make some fur?? fusion with some noise i presume ??
if you got some presets that will be nice ..
thanks anyway

Nice dog model - it looks a bit like our whippet, though even he is not that skinny!
Don't know if you are planning to animate this pup, but if you want some pictures of skinny dogs in motion for reference, have a look at these pics I took at a whippet race.

I like it.

Looks to me like where the neck joins the houlder, and just behind the shoulder is also a bit sharp...., anyway Its a Wip so I guess you'll get a better picture of areas to tweak when more of the form is modelled in.
Really nice attention to detail.
cheers

this is really coming along.
only comment would be the ears are to thick and the front leg part where they meet is to wide.
any chance of seeing the wire for the head?
keep it up...good work.

that's really impressive! have you used another package before?

i agree with flingster about the ears though. they seem to be a bit too big. and the nose needs a bit more definition. but that maybe comes with the textures!

do you plan to animate her?

neilyb
04-29-2003, 12:33 PM
Sounds daft, but which version of Cinema are you using?
Its a nice model just a few areas where sharp edges are apparent and the area around the eyes will need some detailed work.

JIII
04-29-2003, 12:51 PM
the body is skinny and the ears should be too. I think thats about all there is to it,

Nice pic man.
see if you can find some dog anatomy pics on the net. that way you will be able to tell exactly what those front legs should de doing.

thanks a lot ..
so :

Cosmicbear : nope it's the first 3d soft i've ever worked with ..i'm really fresh ..until 2003 i've never toutched any 3d..and yeah i hope i'll be able to rig and animate her

Neilyb : i'm using R8 and yes i will give more def. to the eyes .

JIII : your'e right 'bout ears they have to be more thin ..for the dogs pictures thanks a lot .. i've got some ..but it's seems than each dog got different shape even in the same "specie"(sorry for faults , i'm french speaking:rolleyes: )
and even the same dog .. it changes a lot with the pose

thanks again for critics ..i need other's points of views

looking nice...i know what you mean vary from dog to dog.
thing the top join of the front legs should be closer together..but then again...suppose it depends on doggie type etc.
other than that how about sorting that tail out...
nice work..keep it up...and to say youre so new to 3d...i'd say youre definitely doing pretty good on your own really...

maharadjah
04-29-2003, 08:53 PM
flingster can you explain " sorting that tail out " please .. sorry for my lack of vocabulary

flingster
04-29-2003, 09:17 PM
heh sorry....
i mean't fix it up a little.
it looks like a long cylinder/tube bent over.
maybe more taper...less cg like in appearance...maybe a little unevenness in it....you know what i mean...have a go.

JIII
04-30-2003, 02:49 AM
If i am right an animals tail has bones in it. so you should not have a perfect curve to it.

make it more segmented I guess.

the point really is that a dogs tail is not made of rubber.

maharadjah
04-30-2003, 11:36 AM
ok i get it .. i'll see what i can do 'bout the tail..i'll try maybe to model some sorts of fur on it
(im dreamin of buying shave)
fews changes on the head mainly ..

maharadjah
05-03-2003, 04:22 PM
very little work further ..http://membres.lycos.fr/frenchc4d/images/maharadjah_3mai.jpg
about shave ..was just dreamin ..far too expensive for my actual budget. but still impatient to see the new version ..

JIII
05-03-2003, 11:18 PM
Yeah shave might not help you that much with a dog like this anyway.

there just isnt that muuch hair. so I bet you could do it in sla or something like that and get passible hair.
