View Full Version : HMC #12 - The Collosus of Rhodes

Hey there this is my first time entering into a modelling challenge and i thought it looked like alot of fun and a way to test my skills against some very decent modellers around on this site.
I decided to do the Collosus of Rhodes because noone really knows what it looks like so there still a bit of room for "artistic licence" and the fact that i just read 7 ancient wonder by Matthew Reily.
So heres a screen shot of the beginnings of the modelling process and a few of my scetches in the back ground.

You have an interesting reference picture, because we can clearly see the stones stacked to shape the colossus, and that's something i wonder how one could achieve this. I hesitate between real geometry ridges, or bump mapping...

Wow! Inspiring image! I've always been a fan of the Colossus of Rhodes statue. Wish it still stood, so that I could go there an see. <SIGH>
