Hello

I was looking through some tutorials and the maya help about fields, and I read about the "use selected as source of field" and the "affect selected objects" functions. I thought it would be suitable for my goal, but I am not having success with it!

I have a polyCube which works as a big floorplan. I have then a very irregular polygon mesh intersecting the middle of this floorplan. I want this mesh to work as a force to deform it, so i thought about creating a lattice on the polyCube, then create a turbulence field and connect it to the mesh and affect the polyCube in order to deform it according to the mesh's irregular shape.

I mean, the deformation of the polyCube should be closely related to the shape of the mesh.

Here is are two images of the situation:

Am I going in the right direction??
any insights would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you very much
Daniel

The fields have nothing to do with deformation of polymeshes unless your mesh/lettice/other deformer is a softbody connected to it.. And even though your cube is a softbody it will not straight of transform into your other shape with the help of a field.
The source of field is just from were you want your field to origin.

Another thing is that your cube only got 6 faces. There is no way in this world that you can deform that into your other shape.
