Hi!

I thought I'd show my first character animation test to you. If you feel like commenting or critiquing (sp?), please do!

My goal was to test if my IK setup makes it possible to make my space ship pilot actually control the ship (move the joystick around), and for that I think this test was a success. Still needs a lot of work before I can use it in my final animation, but I think I'm on the right track. Please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

The character uses bones inside a PoseMixer for fingers, traditional hard IK without bones for the arms (left arm is not yet rigged) and high-poly head (imported from Poser) inside a PoseMixer for facial animation.

The animation test is in MPEG1 format, 90 frames and about 570 kilobytes. Any comments welcome!

I love it, seeing her laughing "hey it works". Nice short, especially the facial ani.

Looks pretty good :)
The hand and arm movement looks very convincing to me.

Pretty good! Face looks a little Poserish though. Maybe try a little editing to give her a little more character.

like it this rocks dude.

the face animation looks a little lifeless though maybe move the eyes around to achieve a more alive look.

but like srek said pretty slick.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I didn't much concentrate on the facial animation, I just threw a couple of facial poses together to make her look a bit less like a zombie. :)

Yeah, I suppose the face is a bit too "perfect" for a real character. I wonder if editing the skin texture would help with that? Now it uses the Poser texture as-is, which is probably one reason why she looks so Poserish.

Anyways, thanks for the encouragement, I'll keep you updated on the progress whenever I get something new done!

I have now been working on this animation project of mine for almost a year, and I still do not have a single final frame rendered. Could take a while still... :)
