They've got some great voices for that movie. Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta Jones, Michelle Phiffer. Even without the voices, the movie looks great.

Wow, they're really going all out with the special effects. Giant squid and what not. Should be a fun ride. Might not be a good movie, but it will have lots of eyecandy if the trailer is anything to go by :)

i loved the live-action series Sinbad. :)
too bad this one seems to be very "disney"ish with (maybe) musicals and stupid sidekicks :(
i hope theres some nice fighting sequences to back it up, its not like the story can be any original :)

Sinbad doesn't have songs, and it doesn't really have sidekicks, at least not in the Disney sense.
Honestly, it's really good. Disclaimer: I worked on it. :D

Is it just me or do all these animated movies lately look the same? I mean this looks like Treasure planet, atlantis, El dorado, Prince of egypt etc etc.

Well, EvilDan, there's a reason that Sinbad looks like Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, and Spirit. Having the same company and talent work on these pictures would definitely create a similar feel.
Atlantis didn't really look like a DreamWorks films at all. It seemed Disney went a bit more bold and experimental with it's styles.
Treasure Planet definitely had a Disney feel, in my opinion, one different from the DreamWorks films.
The styles of the DreamWorks pictures are as recognizable as Don Bluth's efforts. You can look at the work and say "Yeah, that's them, all right." Certainly nothing wrong with establishing a DreamWorks look in their 2D work.
I'm really looking forward to Sinbad. It should be a real winner. Tell your friends!

Sheep, looks like the tentacle waving octopus thingie is cg... It would be hell to animate all those tentacles and then have water dripping off them. Also, depending on how complex they make the ships, they'll probably be part cg too. As for characters, I haven't got a clue.

Check out Lilo & Stitch if you get the chance. It has its own, fun look.

I couldn't get the domestic trailer to work on my machine, but the German trailer looks cool enough. I hope Sinbad rakes it in at the box office, if only so that the Powers that Be continue to make fully animated hand-drawn films. *crosses fingers*

Dreamworks looks to be replacing Disney as the dominant 2D animation studio. Much of the talent in Dreamworks, if I'm not mistaken, came from Disney in the first place. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that. Sinbad has me more excited to see a movie of it's kind since the Lion King came out in the theaters. I love Disney, but I'm glad to see Dreamworks taking things in different directions and succeeding where Disney seems to be failing. I've heard rumors that Disney won't even be doing hand-drawn 2D animated feature length movies at all, pretty soon. I guess greed got the better of them and now they're paying for it.

NICE, I think this movie looks quite fun and exciting. Then again I always liked Sinbad epics. Good stuff and thanks for the link.

I wish...as far as I know, Dreamworks has no plans to create any hand-drawn animated feature films past Sinbad.
It's true that Disney no longer makes hand-drawn animated features at its Burbank studio, but the Disney studio in Orlando has at least one hand-drawn animation still in its pipeline -- Brother Bear (http://www.animated-movies.net/BrotherBear.html).
---
Maybe the fully animated hand-drawn films of the future will all get created by independent studios...like July Film's My Little World (http://www.julyfilms.com/).

That really sucks. I guess we should enjoy what's coming, while the last of the greats are still being made... That brother bear movie appears to have some promise. Looks like the days of traditional, hand-drawn animated feature-length films are numbered. If only Disney had not gotten so greedy and let their generations of animation expertise go to waste... There's always something about Disney's animation that was noticeably absent from any other studio. Dreamworks appears to have picked up some of that talent, but if they're not gonna be making those kinda movies anymore.... it's a shame.

Is it just me or does Dreamworks have a habit of making the hero a thief and a con man? It creates a different kind of sympathy with the audience, based on competance instead of shared belief and experience. That is always a hard sell, because at the end of the day it just doesn't always feel right.
One of the only movies to do it well was Charade with Cary Grant.
I personally find it hard to get behind a lead who is essentially the wrong guy. I don't want thieves to prosper in my movies any more than i want the bad guy.
Of course the art is beautiful and i'm sure the animation will be up to the usually high standards that we see from these guys.
Well, it really is just my opinion. I'll probably leave this one off my list though.
