We are working on a 2D animation short film, in which there is a scene like ( below given image) . Water flowing through these rocks and splashing .

So,I am thinking about how to do this using 3DSMAX .
( something like water FX created in SINDBAD )

Can anyone give any ideas, or suggest some tutorials ?

Thanks for your reply.
It was very useful for my purpose.
But, I am really confused with, how can I get the exact feel of the flood using the mapping method?
What kind of material to be used,as Iam working with Max 7?

U could create a plane with an animated bump map and several noise and wave modifiers applied to it. Then animate the modifiers' gizmos within trackview.

Make use of a volume select modifier on top of the stack and add a Position Object, having the plane as emitter object attached, to the flow. Make sure to switch the location, within position object, to "Selected Faces". It grabs the info on selected faces per frame from the volume select modifier and emitts the particles for the splashes, depending on the selection.

Last, attach the geometry where the splashes should occur, to the UDeflector in the first Event of the flow.
