Hey, anyone know a good way to get rid of the flicker in miniDV footage without blending frames? Right now I'm using after effects, and I just duplicate the footage, set it's opacity to 50, and offset it by one frame. It works alright, but you get a little bit of ghosting. Anyone got a better solution?

Flicker?

You mean the interlacing (http://www.lukesvideo.com/interlacing.html)?

I'm not sure what AfterEffects has in the way of deinterlacing tools - I know DigitalFusion can do this quite easily...

naw, it's already deinterlaced. I'm not sure if flicker is the proper term, but it's like the odd frames have a slightly different tint than the even frames. It isn't that noticeable until you turn up the saturation.

it sounds that your footage is not really deinterlaced.

try Reelsmart Twixtor or Reelsmart FieldKit, it works

Flicker is what you see on the tv's screen. Textures that are vibrating, even if the picture is still.
For e.: a dark shutter with a bright background
