CGTalk - Problem with Meshsmooth

I realised that when I delete a polygon, then made back the polygon using the Create Tool, MeshSmooth doesn't work on it. Can someone explain to me why, and how to overcome this problem?

try welding the vertices ;)

1) Make sure the surface are pointing in the same direction. If they aren't then flip them.

2) Make sure that the corner verts are actually welded correctly. Create Poly has a habit of creating a new vert instead of snapping to the one you want it to.
