View Full Version : Vehicle: Loctite GT Race Car
bledsoed 04-20-2003, 07:49 AM Here is the early beginings of my latest model.
I doing a photoreal model of Nissan Loctite ZEXEL GT-R. I am still in the early stages of preperation, but i hope by tomarrow i will actually beable to begin to model the car.
right now i have spent the last 12 hours setting up reference splines to aid the process of modeling. i find that doing this first help produce a much mor detailed and realistic model.
i will update sometime tomarrow once i begin modeling.
you will have to excuse the pictures. they arn't the best being that they are only just the splines

Hello all.
i worked on the Loctite car a little today and this is what i have thus far.
Still have a ways to go i know but i thought i would post my progress on this car as i work on it day to day, and possibly write a tutorial for any and all of you that may be interested in modeling a realistic vehicle. i know how many of you love to model cars.
if thats something any of you may be interested in let me know via email or post here to let me know.
About the images you have to copy the links into a new web browers to view them. darn geocities. seeing as how i reached my max bandwidth yestarday in 20 minutes i am working on a new web page that my dad is going to host on his server which i will post my work on and the new site will have unlimited badwith. the site will hopefully be up by wednesday, it depends on how much i work on the car here.
here the links.

I didn't work on the car much today but i almost got the hood finished.

Still haven't gotten the new website up yet but i hope that will also happen by wednesday.

well i went out and bought the model and scanned in the blueprints and just layed them how accourding to the side view, top view, and front view. took me about 12 hours to get the whole spline cage set up. once the cage was set up i dont need to ref pics anymore. if your interested i am thinking about writting a tutorial for how i did this car. if thats something you would be interested in i will do it and post it on my new website. it would be a few weeks after i finish the model though. in the tutorial i will inclued doing realistic textures for the car.
thanks for the input

im not actually spline modeling it. what i did was made the spline cage as a reference to build the cars mesh around. so in the end the spline cage you see will be deleted, but only after the car is done being modeled. the only reason i made a spline cage was to aid the process of modeling. to make it faster. becuase once i have the cage set up all i have to do i s put the mesh on top of the cage. also setting up the cage allows me to have greater detail and makes it much much easier to see how the panels are suppose to look.
since at least one person seemed interested in a tutorial once i am done i will do a very detailed tutorial describing every process along the way. i am taking screenshots at the end of each day so i can use int he tutorial. the idea behind doing this tutorial is i haven't really seen any really detailed tutorials for beginers like said befor. so my hopes for this is that anyone with at least a little knowlage in max can pick up this tutorial and build a car from the begining of setting up a wire cage to the final textures.
i will keep you all posted on the progress of the car and the tutorial.
like a said befor look back here about wednesday night to see a model that is much more further along then what is shown now.
thanks for the replies and the interest in a tutorial

The spline reference looks very good, so I guess the modeling will be no problem either.
Good luck bro!
