Hi
I've been working in flat bright cartoon colours for quite some time now and recently I've felt I've wanted to ad a bit more depth to my designs. Over the last week or so I've been trying new things, some are subtle departures from my usual style, others are quite radically different. Alot of below is work in progress but I'd like to hear what people think.
Here is an example of my usual clean style:

And here are the new styles I've been working on:

Note: The elf is 1. Not even half finished and 2. I'm doing away with alien arms coming out of his head because originally the image was going to be apart of a bigger concept piece. I'm quite happy with the elf so far because it is the very first time I've concerntrated on working on a image without the use of black/colour lines to hold the design together

Nice lineart, but not very well coloured.. you need to study shading and colour theory. Keep going for your mastery!

Hi

I'd be interested to know what you think is wrong with the colouring and which image (if not all) you were refering to, thanks

In regards to the Elf, only the face has been rendered so far, the hair and body has had the base colours laid down but I still have to remove the lineart and add the texture
