Title: Palace Entrance
Name: James Paick
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

Another piece to go into my development of personal projects. This is a visual development piece to establish a couple key elements in the story. Done completely in photoshop. The painting depicts the entrance way to palaces in the mountains. Religious monks protect the passage way to the entrance.

Very nice colors and athmospere! I especially enjoy the subtle tones of red in the lower right section and the bloom on the rocks.
Some critique: I think the middle tower could have a little bit more mist on the top, and I wonder if there should be some more perspective/distortion on the top of the towers as well because now they seem very straight.

oh man you so have to do a video tutorial or speedpaint of your work process. Your stuff makes me half want to cry and half wobble with admiration, in a good way of course ;)

Amazing work, great atmosphere! IMHO, I think the perspective is a bit forced, specially the scale between the monks and the stairs in the background. Still 5 star work though.

Hello James,

This piece really stands out to me because of the strong vertical elements! I am really enjoying all of your latest paintings! You have an amazing eye for details, atmosphere, and storytelling! It's been exciting following your portfolio since artcenter. You have really eclipsed yourself with your new stuff! 5 stars well earned.

really cool work, I love the perspective, would work very well as a vertical camera pan from top to bottom - I love that you have figures at the bottom, it sets off the scale very nicely

I appreciate your comments. I was really trying to push the scale of this piece. Its something that gives the piece power. Being able to realize how big something is. Thanks again ...

WOW this is an awesome piece of work
very good atmosphere
I could never make something this amazing

one crit though, I'm not sure but I think I can see where you used some type of circular brush being used in the clouds between the middle and far right tower.

Great work!! Nice colour scheme and a great sense of scale. The only things that i noticed is that the birds maybe slightly too big, but thats being hyper critical. Keep up the good work!
