Awesome. Painted posters seem seem to be mostly a thing of the past, but I love them and this looks great.

It just wouldn't be right if they didn't have Drew Struzan do the poster. Some of my favs are of course the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future and Goonies. I think he did most of the movies that came out of ILM during the 80s.

I thought this was the poster for "Indiana Jones and the Attack of the Lens-Flare".

If I could paint like Drew Struzan, I would be incredibly proud of the work I could do, lens flare or no.

You know, I have to confess I think lens flares deeply cool - specially if they are drawn by Drew Struzan.

If he had just blurred out or erased the little lense reflection which makes it an obvious photoshop lensflare I don't think anyone would have a problem with it.
I love the poster, I think it fits right in with the other Indy posters wich all had the same style. remeber that the Indy movies are supposed to be like Old serials like Flash gordon, and Hidden Empire and the like. They are supposed to be retro in that reguard, it is George Lucas after all. :) Love him or hate him, atleast understand him.

Lens flare for the sake of lens flare = bad
That's not the case here.

Typical cgtalk for people to bitch about an arguably subtle lense flare.
My guess is that it's not photoshop as someone mentioned since he usually works 1:1 scale in acrylic.

Jeez, folks, lighten up! I have nothing against lens-flares - I was just making a joke. But according to the logic here, somebody like Spielberg could take a dump on your lawn and you'd say it's awesome because Spielberg did it? Aside from this fanboy logic, I think the flare works here, being a shiny crystal skull and all.
But let's talk about something serious: I hear the whole movie is being mocapped and rendered in 4D with a special new camera that George Lucas built while sitting stuck in traffic on his way to work one day.

Defending the poster has nothing to do with Spielberg.
Drew Struzan does great work and the photoshop lens flare comment was a head scratcher.

It's not possible to build a special camera while being stuck in a traffic unless you're driving a special truck full of tools and stuff. derrr....
Anyway, that poster works for me. What I'm worried about is the movie itself. Indy without Nazi is like a pizza without cheese, you can probably enjoy it but it just feels like something's missing.

Now, wait a minute. I hope youŽre not suggesting Spielberg is just a mere mortal man with bodily functions and all that.
Frankly, sir, if you insist on such a nonsense IŽll have to cry like a little girl, and throw my Galaxy Rangers action figures at you.

Never said I didn't like the poster or that Struzan doesn't do great work, and never mentioned Photoshop, either. Why so defensive about someone else's work?

Unfortunately Struzan messed up the hat... the most important part of Indy's outfit! The middle part is too wide (or the flaps too narrow)...

Harrison Ford, and therefore Indy, is quite a bit older now. I believe the villains are cold war era russians!

I swear to God, his poster feel like they contain the whole film distilled into one pure image. That is outstanding stuff. Looks better with every large pic we see.

Tadadata, tadadada, tadadata, ta tata tah tah tah! (http://www.indianajones.com/site/index.html)
That tune! Like they say on the internet "Best ever!" or "B3st Ev4h!1!1" depending on where you go.
I still think "Young Indiana Jones" is the best series on TV. Ever.

Bad mouthing Drew on this forum (or almost any art forum) is like going to a Christian forum and going after Jesus. Really, no matter how you say it, it's probably not going to be taking quite well.
More to the real point, though, incredible artwork as always and another in a huge line of great movie posters from both Indy and Drew. I'm really looking forward to this coming out, but also have completely prepared myself for it to be horrible. I realized early on that my fanboy-ish expectations were going to be completely unreachable, so I'm totally prepared for the movie to suck. I doubt it will, but best to get mentally ready, just incase.

The only thing I wish they would do for the new one is bring back Sean Connery for at least a quick scene. I think he turned it down because he is retired, but man, I think that was easily one of Connery's best roles. He owned every scene he was in.
As for Indiana Jones 2 being people's least favorite, how can you deny the greatness of a movie that brought you this moment?

That's right except I remember many of his works being a bit larger than 1:1, I used to work at the design studio that did a lot of Spielberg/Lucas film posters back in the early eighties. We used a lot of very good illustrators back then but Struzan had no equal when it came to movie posters. It good to see him still doing excellent work.

The Last Crusade was one of the most hilarious movies ever made - Ford and Connery were a perfect comedy duo.

So making a joke about a lense flare constitutes "bad mouthing Drew"? WTF? Jeez, the guy's a great illustrator....lighten up! I'm not saying the lense flare is overdone in this context, but this attitude that mega-talented artists can do no wrong is pure hogwash.

Yeah, see, I was actually making that point, and actually kind of defending you. Perhaps you should take your own advice there.
