View Full Version : APO Distortion in AE?
thundering1 12-10-2007, 02:56 AM Can anyone figure out a way to do APO lens distortion in AE - for those who don't know what I'm talking about, when using a cheap lens, the individual colors are not refracted and aligned to the correct point, resulting in colored edges in the photograph.
Ideas, or would it have to be a plugin that I need to buy?
Thanks for any ideas, or just to say "no"-

Separate the channels using Shift Channel on 3 duplicates of the footage, blend them back together by using the Add mode. While separate, you can treat any channel with whatever effects you desire, in your case Bulge and Optics Compensation would be appropriate. Slightly different values on each layer shoudl sufficiently render a chromatic abberation effect.

The Foundry's Tinderbox Lensblur also does this effect IIRC.

Thanks guys - gonna give it a try tomorrow, and look into the Tinderbox plugin.
Been looking at the Gen-Arts plugins as well but a bit pricey right now.
Thanks again!

The Foundry's Tinderbox plugins are $500 each - I could really use the muzzle flash as well - drawing my own takes a bit of time, even though I now have a small library to choose from. Not out of the ballpark but I still gotta wait for another month's check.
Thanks again!
