ok i have been interested in 3d for a long time now and have finally broke down and am going to start to work on some stuff and i have tried a few software pieces before but maya seems very decent ok so i got the Maya 4.5 personal leaners edition...? is this like the full software but cannot use it for commercial use or anything like to make money off of? and then say i get good enough and want to buy a version to do projects? what is the difference between the Complete and Unlimited versions? thanks for all the help ahead of time hope to hear some replies soon thanks again.

I believe that the version you have is just to learn the package. If you try to render something out...or playblast, you will get some ugly watermark, hence you can't use it for a demo reel or anything. Then I don't know the main diff. between the 2 is that unlimited has maya live, and some other stuff. Check the website for differences and see what you may need....and go from there.

The main difference between complete and umlimited is Maya Live, Fur, Cloth, Fluids and a few modellign tools that you probably won't miss.
