I'm posting this here because it was done in Cinema 4D. Please let me know if it should be posted in the Finished works gallery forum instead. Thanks

of course you can post here  c4d anything is welcome here, this is looking really good aswell  I think the only thing I'm not keen on is the fire, it looks a bit photoshopped, smudge tool etc

Lookin great there Michael, Great to see you here. I think the grass needs to be smoothed out a bit but that's just me. I kinda like the fire so go figure. Nice work.

it looks good, but it could look great if you were to work on the ogres textures a little bit more. he needs to have oily sweating looking skin, reflecting the firelight, right now he looks like he's got the default matte material on him, and have some tonal differences accross him, maybe some darkening into the skin folds. right now the texturing is a little flat and that's leting down what could be a superb image. go to it!

Hey thanks for the comments guys. It's funny how everyone sees something different in what could be improved or not.

I'll admit that skin texturing is not one of my strong points. I'll have to work on that.

I kind of like the fire myself.

Hi Mike, this is such a great render. It's got a great mood. I'm very fond of it.

I gotta tell you, though. I ain't diggin that new skin very much. I'm sure it's tough though. I've never tried it myself so can't give you much advice there. Are you using BP here? Might help to unwrap that mesh and give it a good hand painted texture. Just a though.

Unfortunatly no, I don't have BodyPaint. It's all procedural. Tough work.:argh:

How did I miss this?

Can't think of anything to crit.... maybe mountains or something landbased in the back ground.

Good show, chief!

Awesome work!

Very nice character modelling, terrific lighting, and great sense of atmospheric perspective--feels like a storms approaching. Very moody.

I was gonna say that the colors were a bit too saturated--especially on the ogre, but the second pic seems to have fixed that a bit by breaking up the skin texture with highlights. You might want to colorize the highlights to match the color of the fire more?

I am not so crazy about the grass in the foreground--though I like the idea of being low to the ground, it seems a bit stiff and 2-d to me. Maybe doing some foreground blurring/DOF stuff to soften it up might be cool

Hey, thanks everyone for the crits and help. Unless someone has some super suggestion I think this will be my last update to this image. Got to be moving on to bigger and better things you know.:arteest:

Wow--really nice. The grass now looks like its blowing in the wind--which pulls it together with the rest of the scene quite nicely.

Most excellent! This image has a great mood to it.

(but the pants tex is stretched and flowing oddly).

miketche: this is way way better the tweaks and the time were well spent. i think the trousers could do with a tweak...but i know what you mean about time....the grass etc really works now.
well done...nice work.
