ok I decided to do some modeling after being away from it some time... I'm trying to make a fighter jet, so would you please give me some feedback on the basic shape, I want to get that down before I go into adding more polys and detail. I made it all up from my head so it might look a bit wierd :)

Hey Man

Good start, But what you need to do it look for blue prints and fllow them. By doing this the model will be flawless at the end? Here is a link for some help

Blue prints here (http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw.html )

Good luck

John

Dire... need.... of.... meshsmooth.....

Aside from the crazy segmentation (Is that even a word? If not, look I invented another CG word today!), you need some crazy macross missiles. You know, the kind that consist of two chamfer boxes stacked on each other with a flat head (not pointy like those american 'aerodynamic' missiles), and on that flat head they have a diagonal indentation. Then you can make a clone and have them do crazy air battles! W00000t too much sunny D for me!

Well I'm no aircraft expert,

but just by looking at that,

I get a feeling that the bigger wings are too further back.

Hard to tell from the pics if the bottom surface of the wings in flat.
It should be if it's not.

Thruster area looks too long.

Have you grabbed any pics for reference for the different areas? such as thrusters, ailerons, rudders?

man, thats good work.
It's just my impression, but I think you got the design down pat. just clean the model and add what ever detail you wanted. For instance, figure out what kind of thruster nozzel you are going after.
I like the canard, with the v tail. That would be stable if the center of gravity is right.
Can't wait to see what you do with this.

Sorry, but annoying headings like that deserve that kind of response, r u fishing for compliments or trying to downplay your work so much so that people will give nice comments? It's pathetic man.

Hi:

Nice work on a non-blueprint aircraft. I am working on a modification of a private jet also with somewhat modification to the latter half of the fuselage.

Sorry not to get off subject. Looking at your mesh smooth model I can a hump seams going right down the center of the model. It looks like a plastic fused body. In any case this can sorta look like a plastic toy when you full texture and render it.

You know what would be cool about this aircraft if you can fused the exiting nozzle into one like but still showing two distinct exhaust. Like the B-2 or JSF. Less curvature looks for stealthy.

Well I know modifying the model can a pain in the a**, this is something you might want to keep in mind for future modeling. But for now it looks really cool!!! Looks like an older BAE figther. Can't wait to see the texture.

Angelus, sry I was just so bored by the "normal" topics "jet figther model, bleh" and it was my sort of "comeback" to modeling. and I know my models arnt the very best.

cap2: yea but I'm having a hard time navigating the page ;)

I'll do some more work on her today and post some more screenies
