Title: Characters: Cowboy at saloon
Name: Eduardo Martin Julve
Country: Spain
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop
This is an Image that I have finished recently. It was done with Maya and mental ray and some post in Nuke.
The character design was done by Torsten Schrank (http://www.torstenschrank.com) and it is inspired in the Lee Van Cleef from the spaghetti western. The rigging was done by David Corral (http://www.23lunes.com/html/portfolio.html).
I hope you like it
Cheers
Edu

Great image! I just noticed something though. The wooden boards, should they look like that on the inside? The arrangement on the boards seems like a typical outside setup. Right now they are set up so they can withstand water on the inside of the house, but not on the outside. Nitpicking tho hehe, very nice image!! good job

I love the atmosphere of the picture, the composition of the picture is beautiful, and the lighting too.
It describes very well the "ambient with nothing to do" of the Saloon. It has involved a very deep understanding of the artistic side of the process of CG creation.
Nice Job.
5 Stars from me.

HI Edu! Great and very suggestive work. Your character is a hard gunman. Whom is waiting to kill? I´m feeling a decadent mood in your image (maybe the green light is the cause, but it helps to tell an history, niceee). Your character is a mercilessly gunman, no doubt in his eyes, he´s just waiting somebody to shoot him...sin perdón. 5 stars for you and your Spaghetti Western´s image

Hi, I'm Luis from Spain near Barcelona. I'll talk in my bad english so everybody can understand something. I hope. :)
YOur work is fantastic. I'm following your characters since ChessMate was born and public on internet. I consider myself a big fan of your characters. I saw that you work at Ilion. I know that Ilion Studios is in Madrid but I though you were living in Barcelona cause of the information of your profile and website.
WOW! About your ilumination with mental. Fantastic character proportions and cartoon modeling shaders and scene props. Good combination of the two lights and color in the scene. Love it. 5 stars from me of course.
Well I would like to meet you and talk in person if you are in Barcelona and is possible.

Hi there,
Many thanks everybody for the kind words. I´m glad you liked the image :)
Madmartigan: You are right about the woods, they should be the other way around but thankfully there is not much rain in the fair west :P
Snows: You are also right regarding putting extra elements in the escene like bottles or glasses but honestly I have been a little bit lazy and I wanted to have the image done before the end of the year
Arizaga: I´m currently living in Madrid although I´m from Barcelona. I don´t have plans to go back to Barcelona soon but I´m sure we´ll meet some day in the future ;)
Many thanks everybody again :)
