stylEmon 12-07-2007, 07:12 PM i know this may not be the right place to ask this, but it may be the best.
Our office is looking for a laserJet printer that prints photo quality. Does anyone have a reccomendation. Any reviews or places to look.
I am doing research online, but not having the best luck.
Thanks

I'm actually a graphic designer specializing in print, so hopefully I can help :)
Laser's advantages are that it's A LOT faster, more efficient and cheaper. It's disadvantage is that colors don't always come out as you intend them, especially if you're working with color books (Pantone, etc.)
As far as what model, you'll need to do that research yourself - I do know that Xerox has some great graphic arts high-volume printers. Also, if you're looking at network printing with lots of users, look into getting a Fiery network print queue.

I have always used the epson 1280 inkjet printer. It prints 13"x19" and, using premium epson photo paper it produces superb photo images. The epson model which also prints 13"x19" and uses archival ink is also excellent with the benefit of long lasting (60-100 yrs) images. Purchasing ink from the company I currently use: printcountry.com (who has J&J ink which has never given me any problems) the per cartridge cost is $6.00 for black & white and $8. for color, as opposed to $30+ for epson OEM cartridges.

I use laser printers for text work only. I suggest that if you want a high quality photo you use ink jet printers.... better than 4800 dpi ... epson are my favorite but canon has a few good ones as well. your local print shop can do the best job for you. i also take photos to the local camera store and load there profile into photoshop to get the correct colors. Each 11x17 i do is about 10 dollars but worth it for my portfolio. I use glossy for my portfolio and matte for actual prints / frames
