View Full Version : max bones - Need help
z3lda 04-13-2002, 10:35 AM Hi, I'm trying to rig a spaceship which will have some basic animation using max bones. I'm using max4.2. The ship is basically a Pod, which opens up, to reveal a gun in the center.
Here are the pictures.

What I did was link the 2 side bones to the center, but when I move the 2 left sides in to close the pod it rotates the whole front bones.
Any ideas on how to set this up? BTW texture is still being worked on.

You don't need to use bones for that at all, just link the objects together. Any Max object can be part of a heirarchy, you only need to use bones in you have a mesh which needs to deform.

Ok, I'll just have to do it that way, since thats what everyone is telling me. I was just going to learn how to use bones a bit...
Thanks

Ok, I got some help from another site, and learned that I should attatch the side bones to a dummie. That worked out great.
As for a snake, it wouldn't be as complicated since it would just be 1 long bone, and maybe some for the mouth to open :).
