Does anyone know if it is possible to get SimCloth to act on a sub-object level, as in only certain parts of the mesh? I have a character I'm working on where I only want the sleeves and pant legs to behave like cloth, I've been experimenting, but have had less than satisfactory results. If anyone has come up with a reliable way to do this, or found a different plugin that can do this, please tell me.

Thanks,
Julian

If you are talking about Chaos-group's Simcloth for Max, I know there used to be a way(it was a really long time ago since I did this sort of stuff, Max3.1 days), as I recall it place a mesh select in your stack, and simcloth on top of it, now the mesh select should be left in sub obj mode, and if I recall it right the verts(not faces/edges) that was not to be included in the simulation would have to be selected, or was it the other way around?, try with a simple setup first, cloth and collision objects should be fairly low res, arent there any docs/tuts that came with the plug? Sorry to be of so little help, you might wanna try to post in 3dsmax forum,

cheers,

The same basic idea works when using Reactor in Max5... it's a little too complicated to explain in a post, but the manual that comes with max should help. I've used Reactor for this very purpose with good results...
