View Full Version : Cinema 4D and Maxwell 1.6 Problem
augustuslazarus 12-07-2007, 07:35 AM Hi everybody,
for some reason I cannot run Maxwell 1.6 with Cinema 4d 9.6.
Every time I try to render with Maxwell I get a message that "mxd" cannot be found and that I should make sure that I used the correct path ??????????? What the heck does that mean ? Which path ?????
When I create a maxwell material and hit the "start maxwell material editor" button I get a similar message: "mxed" cannot be found...
...even so that "mxd" and "mxed" waiting in the nextlimit/maxwell folder. Do I need to point the plugin to this directory somehow ?
I tried Maxwell with 3ds max and it worked fine....
Any hints ?

I think you should post this at the maxwellrender forum

Correct noseman, but there's a patch that resolves this issue as it looks like the system path problem some users experienced in the beginning. You can download this patch from the download area at Next Limit.
Install that, reboot and try again. It should work fine.

I contacted Next Limit, but didn't get an answer yet. Tried to post on the maxwell forum but that didn't work either (quote: "Sorry, but only users granted special access can post topics in this forum...")

Alright, well if you're not a customer then that could cause a couple of problems especially if you're trying to contact them and get help and also posting on the forum is only something customers can do now.
Anyhow, did you set your systempaths correctly ? if you haven't done that then Maxwell won't work properly.

This is insidious...
Must have two paths set in Evnironment Variables: Control panel/system/Advanced/Environment
Variables.
(1) Maxwell_Root C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\
(2) Path C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\
Most likely the Maxwell_Root variable is set....the path one create by clicking on new and make
variable name path and the value from above depending on your directory, etc. Hope that helps
and you get the renderer working.

Well, I guess you should uninstall and install the product once again, it should fix it
If I still remember, I had the same message and fixed it by re-insalling maxwell.
