View Full Version : Need Character Modeling assistance

This is my first attempt at creating a character. I use 3DSMAX 4.2 with the help of the meshtools plugin. I would like to add detail such as wrinkles and pockets. Could someone let me know if I'm headed in the right direction? This is the meshsmoothed version so far. Thanks for any replys! >^_^<

Well first off, the extrude tool is your friend. get real familiar with it and youll be able to get pockets. For wrinkles, I think that just maipulating the the actual vertices will get you where you want to go. Lastly since you already are at the point your at it might be a good idea to not that you can actually add polys to just a certain area to get more detail. Theres a couple different ways of doing that so i suggest you run a search for some tutorials and pick a method you like most.

Thank you for the reply and help. Okay I tried cutting the polygons and then using 'chamfer edge'. I then used 'weld target' for the vertices at the end. This created 3-point polys but I think it looks okay. After this, I moved the center edge out a little. (Note: I know the wrinkles make no since as far as their placement.) >^_^<
