Hey yall, i have a run cycle, and the animation itself is simply cycling with offset (option in the graph editor)

However, after the fifth cycle i need to edit the keys so the character can take a look at his watch. Any suggestions on how to maybe bake out cycled animation to the timeline?

PS. without using trax.!

Thanks

Hi-

Unfortunately thereīs no direct way to bake out cycled animationin Maya (like Soft3Dīs "Freeze Cycle" option)... Unless of course thereīs a script on highend that does it (havenīt checked). However you can simply set your pre- and post- infinity settings to "constant", then copy all your keys, and paste them while specifying a value in the "Copies" parameter of the Paste Keys Options. This will paste mulitple copies of your keys, effectively "baking" your cycle... If AW is listening, a fast "Freeze Cycle" function in the Graph Editor menu would be indeed useful.

Maya has a special clip option that does all this for you. You can take your character's keyed attributes and make a clip out of them. Then you can tell the clip to cycle say five times. The clip will stop at the end of its cycles, then you make the other animation where you want it and can add the walk cycle clip back in at a later point.

you don't need TRAX to do this...

1) select objects you want to cycle
2) set post infinity>cycle
3) set your timeline to play 5 cycles
4) bake objects to be cycled with SPARSE CURVE BAKE option on
