hmmm the part of lowest detail is probably around the eyes, try adding some detail there to define the eyelids and stuff ;)

Lookin good, here! The colour/texture change sure has a huge effect, and the new dental configuration and tongue are huge improvements! I look forward to this fella's evolution! - Wm.

Hey Maximus, Just seen this thread for the first time. I really love the mouth area those teeth look very viscious. I am much looking forward to the body work I can imagine some bloody talons coming out some bulky arms :buttrock:

Well, I for one was suprised to find him so... stubby ... looking.:p But, once I read yer explanation, it made a bit more sense. His modeling seems to be pretty rudimentary and obviously unfinished, so it's really difficult to know how to focus attention. Looks like the muscles by the shoulder blades and side/back of the arms need attention... and from an anatomical standpoint, his whole front torso seems like it'd have a different set up. ( i.e. the pecks and abs are fer an UPRIGHT creature) ...
that said, this IS an inhabitant of the "What I say goes" world of Maximus Groffs throbbing brain - and who knows what the laws are there.
It just needs to move forward further in the process, is all.
So, move it!

Oh, and maybe BIGGER arms... If he's relying on those to pull him around, he'll wanna bulk up, I bet. I like the "filthy hands" idea. ok i done now.

Hm.. I guess his arms are pretty big, but isn't he sort of pulling himself and some big snakey tail along? His chest is huge, so I'm imaging a pretty long tail.. arms like legs in their dimensions... But, I think you gotta come up with all this other stuff before I can make any more comments, it's too open.

As far as the abs go.. well, they could stay that way and have sort of distorted mermaid thing goin' on - that can work. Or maybe have that whole area be shifting into sort of bone belly scales - like on a snake, but ribs and flesh. Or maybe he's got a sort of a sled set-up... like he pulls himself along with the help of these metal rails that're tied or implanted or bolted to him... a sortuv quadropalegic on the skateboard effect... :)

Hey Maximus Groff,

Looking really awesome. Are you gonna keep the plastic type feel or go for a textured realistic feel. Personally I think the textured feel would suit it better. Anyway, keep up the good work!!

i think i honestly liked the first color best! the pink one, somehow, to me, it seemed to fit the beast a bit more..the high specularity on the green shader didnt really apeal to me. The model itself is looking pretty sweet!

You should work in a colour that you enjoy modeling in... I liked the darker greenish quality, but I can see some pretty intense veining possibilities with the caucasian look!
Right now the structure is the most important focus. I preferrred the neckless version... it was part of his character, I thought - that sortuv Hunched look was appealing. And it changes the whole look of the shoulders, too. I'm just another cook in the kitchen, I guess, but I miss that aspect.
And I'm wondering if, when I suggested bigger arms--- Did you just scale them up? It's not really what I meant. Because now his head looks very small! I meant maybe some fatter muscles thrown in, but with the same length arms. I guess I wasn't clear there. If it doesn't gel with your instinct, don't go with it.
Do you have any concept sketches that you did for this, or do you work on the fly? It'd be nice to have a broader understanding of your vision. And, conversly, what specific aspects are you focused on?
Why aren't you working on the fingers? He'll look better with fingers!:thumbsup:

About the concept... my friend work with me in the night period..
we are sorta of 'organization'... cool huh ? anyway, the scanner
crashed badly (AC adapter)... so only I can view his drawings..

im still adapting the size of head with body, so its normal to have
such weirdo looks... 4 heads tall i believe..

bout the hunching... flex on his head will allow some nice
'almost-catch-with-teeth' sequences...
yes there is a short behind this.

about those arms.. man.. oh trouble...they must be long
cause he is slow moving (damn big and has a VERY long tale)
and must catch its preyes more efficiently.. still WIP thought ;)

the color is very frustrating... but with this setup, its better to
catch errors on geometry/scale..

Well, can u sketch some NEW stuff based on this one ?
i can double check with my friend and perhaps we can do
even a better character!! :lightbulb

And for picture... what area? In general, you mean?!? I would feel weird about that, I think... I get carried away with pictures, it would no longer make sense to your creation, I fear. Maybe I'm wrong, though... ok, but you gotta put the image back up - one that's as close to your current vision as possible. And keep working on fingers! Claws! :D

Ahhhh fantastic Talons just as I imagined, did we link brains briefly or something Max :beer:

Only one thing you may want to consider, unless you are skinning it as you go along that folder skin around his belly is gonna be difficult to skin without it doin weird stuff. You might wanna give him a fairly flat stomach for the time being and then let the skinning make it fold.

the arms are going thru some major changes... the biceps will
be more noticeable..

Green's good. ...but, you're focus should be on the modeling. Agreed? Wow, this book on modeling is so fat and heavy... And my brain is so light and puny... Can't we just download stuff into our minds without effort, yet?!! I'm aching to know how to do this stuff! Waaaah :cry:
Okay, I'm done. Now, Maximus-- if you have the time and wherewithall, follow your bliss and model what Maximus wants to see! THEN we can tell you what you did wrong:D !

And don't forget what PCollier said about maybe making the stomach flat to begin with... I don't know what pc's talking about, but it sounds like it might be important.

Sure Maximus. Here is a rough sketch of what I meant about the neck. Pretty much just like what you have there already with a bit of extra muscles to make it less humanoid. It may probably add to his menacing look. :thumbsup:

Now, how iz he gonna move around? Is he gonna be more like a slug or a snake? I'd been thinking that he was gonna pull himself along, somewhat, with those arms... but, now it doesn't look that way at all.
Regardless, I think you need to continue the belly modeling further down.
And he sort of balloons out a bit, towards his base... what's your reasoning there? It would make sense if he's gonna be slug-like, but i dunno if that's gonna work for snake-like.
Despite all that, it's nice to see how far he's come!:thumbsup:

I realy like this one!! The translucensy in the shader really does the trick to give him that soft appearance, makes him look a little like marzipan ( i have no idea if u spell it that way) Awesome job!

Crosshatch filter; Is this filter found in Maya?
The resolutions I used were 1024, and 1440, what I did was apply these to specific parts like the head, chest, back, and arms. Its not one whole texture for the entire mesh, dont know how I would accomplish that type of segmented texturemapping without deeppaint. If you do decide to use one map it wouold have to be huge, I'm guessing like 4k or so.

0oo0ooo I love the texture work with the scales on the head. You next need make a nice scale shader to really bring it out. I think it could do with a little more bump too.
