I'm a beginner, so my stuff won't be great...but I'll improve just give me some time. I expect to post at least once a day. This thread will keep me obligated to consistently practice too! I hope by the time I'm done with this thread there will be a thousand posts!\

I'm working out of "Drawing the Head and Hands" by Loomis, "Drawing the Human Head" and "Drawing Dynamic Hands" both by Burne Hogarth. I also have a book called "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil" by J.D. Hilberry. All things in this sketchbook are taken from my sketchbook. I don't have a tablet.

onto my first sketches...

Hi and welcome, :)

Your link is not showing up - are you using an image host? If you are not familiar with hosting, check out this thread which may be of help:

Sorry I posted this thread in the wrong forum. It was an accident. I fixed the images. I understand all about hosting and such, the problem was I used links from my album then moved the pictures of my sketches into a subalbum, making my old links obsolete.

Sorry for the poor quality of my art also, I've come here because I really want to improve!

Hey there, :)

I highly recommend the book, "The Artist's Complete Guide to Figure Drawing (http://www.amazon.com/Artists-Complete-Guide-Figure-Drawing/dp/0823003035)" by Anthony Ryder. He has a great, simple approach to breaking down the figure which I teach to my students. You can see some examples of their work here:

Click on the thumbs to get medium, then again to get large images.

Try using photo reference from the site, www.characterdesigns.com / photosets - click on the dropdown arrow to access the multiple sets of photos.

Also I highly recommend taking a figure drawing course at a local community college if you can. Or to take a course in basic drawing. There is no way to learn except to practice, and a course will force you to draw several hours a week. It's a long road, but that's the case for everyone. :) Check out taking a drawing course, and feel free to post your drawings here.

Cheers,

-R
