I thought I would post up this WIP animation of a waterfront development...It's all put together with C4D and the MoGraph plugin.

See what you think:

Wow nice!

I've always wanted to know how this effect is achieved. I've seen it on so many TV commercials this year, it's quite the trend. :-)

Do you mind sharing your technique, or links to tutorials? I've just got mograph myself.

Thanks!

Wow! I too have seen many many commericals using this effect, but i'm totally new to mograph so i've only used the skylight for it by Pavel and others.

I'd seriously love to see a tutorial about how to achieve this effect!

Would those completely novice to MoGraph be able to understand?

I look forward to seeing more information if possible.

Thanks for your comments.

In this animation I used just the Mograph cloner object with a step effector.

As an example I animated the cladding panels using key frames with the rotation and a display tag. The display tag is keyframed so the object appears over two frames and then further keyframes ensure it rotates into place.

The panel object is then placed as the child of the cloner object and the number of clones is selected on the particular axis required. The distance between the clones is also set so they stack on top of each other.

As it stands the cloned objects and the original will all animate at the same time but the addition of a Step Effector (which is dropped into the Cloner Objects Effector box) offsets the animations so they appear and rotate in sequence. The Scale functions of the Step Effector are turned off and the 'Time Offset' number of frames is manipulated to achieve this.

There are some good tutorials on Mograph in the library section at www.creativecow.net
