View Full Version : Question: transfering UV maps.
Solve 04-18-2003, 09:07 PM I have two duplicate meshes, one is UV unwrapped and textured the other isn't. I'm trying to put the unwrapped & textured UV on the duplicate mesh but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I've tried using the "transfer" option on the polygon menu but it seems to have no effect.
Can i get some pointers?

I am no guru. But Im sure there is something called UV linking in Maya (own menu).
Maybe this is the solution.

Transfering UVs will not transfer the texture map or shader. You still have to apply the shader to the remaped object. If the UVs don't match after the transfer function then somewhere along the line the duplicated mesh was altered to where the function has no effect. This can happen if the number of vertices changes or even the order of the vertices in memory is altered. This means that you can't split, cut, combine or alter you duplicate mesh in anyway besides moving the vertices.

Hello,
I have a scene with a character laying on a bunch of rocks. The character pushes himself off and runs out of frame. I took that character, exported as .Obj, arranged the UV's and saved it as a different file. I then took the .Obj into Deep Paint and painted the texture, placed the texture on the new scene with the rearenged UV's and it looks flawless. I then Import the correct UV character into the original scene where it came from and tried to transfer UV's and no result. Im pretty positive that I did not alter the mesh. If I did for some reason do something that will not allow me to transfer UV's, what other options do I have aside from re-rigging and using the character with the proper UV set on it?
Please Help, i'm under a deadline!!!
