Hi, I've searched for an answer, but apparently I didn't find any solution. So, here's the question:

I want to scatter trees (face with a bitmap) on a surface, and tinting their colors randomally to each tree (so i have some more redish and some more greenish). I used the Pflow to scatter them, but I can't find a way to define the tint color as a randomize per particle or anything...

Create a Multi Sub material and give each sub material a shade, then had a Static Material op to your Flow, tick Assign Material ID and Random.

I've tried that, and it feels almost there, but it still doesn't work.

I've made a Multi/Sub-Object Material with red, orange and green trees.
Then, in the Material Static I used the following parameters:

v Assign Material (Tree Material)
v Assign Material ID
v Show in Viewport
Random
# Sub-Materials: 3
Per Particle: 1.0
Seend: 12345 (as if it matters :))

It doesn't work :hmm: If I use cycle, I get only one color, but I can choose 1 out of 3 with the #Sub-Material thingy.

Strangely I found that mental ray doesn't render the variations while the scanline does...
