View Full Version : another better booles image

Here's another view of the trains (more close up), this time with Booles endpiece cuts. I sent a request to Maxon for a bevel edge option, BTW. For this image I faked in a subtle bevel in Photoshop. The edge was too complex for a good bevel to work. (I could've kept tweaking the cutting piece to make it simpler, but sometimes you just have to move on!)

Feedback is welcome!! :)

I had an odd thing happen with the SLA wood texture (Banji? Banzi? I never remember which is glass, which is wood:rolleyes: ) In the editor window renders, the wood ring pattern showed up strong on the side edge of the track. On the final render it was completely different (almost non-existant). I wanted it to be subtle, as Brio tracks wood rings and grain are very very subdued, but I wanted more than I got.

Nice one Brucie!

I can't remember if I had a train like that. I can barely remember being a child! :)

I can barely remember being a child!

I'm planning on growing into a mature adult someday <sigh> Too bad I'm nearly 50 <gasp>

Seriously, this 3D stuff makes me feel like a kid again. And I always wanted a Brio train, and now I've got one!

*Feels strange he has never seen a train like this before in his life*

So you made one piece and then used it to cut out the end of the next? How many vertical polys are there to the tracks?

Nice train! Very clean looking image.

I didn't have a train like this when I was a kid. There were 15 of us, and we had to work in the cotton fields after school to help get enough money for food and clothes. We also had to walk 5 miles uphill everyday to school. (Both ways) the only games we would play was wrestling over that last fried chicken wing at the supper table.

Have a great weekend. Going back home to Alabama for the weekend.

er, um, I'll have to go count and post later:)

randyrives: LOL !

Caravaggio: do a google for Brio trains and you'll get a zillion returns. They have some pretty nifty (and pricey) sets available with bridges, overpasses, crossings and so on.

Next task: tackle an overpass or bridge! I guess it's a job for SweepNURBS, but I've always had trouble getting Sweep to obey my wishes:rolleyes:
