View Full Version : Kate
olga8515 04-18-2003, 12:39 PM Hello everyone, this is the second head i've made and is the early stage of working on my new character (I hope)...Her name's Kate, since i've been using the pics of Kate Winslet to model her...i know she doesn't look very much like the original, but this is the early stage after all...the head still needs lots and lots of tweaking...

Good start mate... just a couple of pointers... look at your proportions a bit... the top of someones ears is normally around eye level or a fraction higher...yours are a bit to high... female ears normally have the bottom about nostril highter (or again a tad higher).
Also the tear ducts look a fraction on the big side.. and the faetures on the whole might be a bit low.. especially eyes... ut i might be seeing that as here are no eyebrows to judge against.
I'm being overly picky though... very nice start... can wait to see this as it progress'. Keep us updated.

Hi Olga:
This is looking nice so far - its a clean mesh with enough polygons to do the job without getting swamped :) I can't see anything wrong with it myself - happy tweaking!

Looking good for an early stage work. The only thing which is slightly nagging me is the back of her shorts seem a bit too high compared to the front. She certainly has well developed leg muscles ;)

wow, looks really good.
for some reason the fact that the shorts are so high/short in the back doesn't bother me at all   hehe.
but i think the knee should be a bit more pronounced, and that you should tone down the muscles on the thighs a tad.

Hi!:)
Not bad, not bad..:)
I just think her back is pretty curved, is it?
But the whole thing is quite good .. :applause: (as always - everyone uses this smiley:) .. I begin to hate it:))
BTW, good to see "our" people here ..:)

I like it, it has a lot of image-comic flair to it but-- hey come on--
Kate Winslet does not have a body like that, never will--
She is not remotely as athletic as that--

the legs are seeming a bit too ripped in comparison to the rest of her..and to some degree quite huge for such a slight girl. If you're going comic book style you should exaggerate the rest of her, if not, then do the reverse. :D Otherwise coming along well..again the exaggeration or not would apply to the back curve, too.
And yes, have to say, the name is about all the relation to kate winslet she has. There doesn't seem to be any room in cg for a nice comfy zoftig girl. :)

Hiya everyone, thanks for the comments...Yeah, i guess i'm getting some kinda comic book style... anyways...i still have to correct her leg muscles, and add some to the rest of her body...and she no longer looks like Kate winslet anyway...not sure she ever did...but that's not the goal after all...i just wanted to model some kinda supa hero girl you know...Tried to draw my own head reference for that, but when i actually modelled it, the result sucked, so i deleted it...I'm planning to make her some T shirt or probably a tank, and boots as well...maybe sun glasses...
to acidman nice to see you here;)

I've started modelling the hands... You know, the more I work on her, the more mistakes i find, the more things i have to improve... I guess i'll have to work on her leg muscles now, cause they're totally wrong...

Coming along well - the only problem I can see with it is that the clothing looks like its part of the body itself rather than a separate object. Other than that, looks fine to me :)

Heh heh - give me time and I'll say something. The boots are looking great - especially with the laces and they'll look superb once you've textured them. The only thing that is glaring at me at the moment is that there seems to be quite a sharp ridge showing on her leg (the furthest one away from us as seen on your render) I think that's where you've tried to put the calf muscle but it just looks a bit too sharp a curve at the moment. But the boots look great - are you planning on giving her socks as well?

ok, i've worked on her legs a bit...now i'm planning to proceed to her clothing and the upper body

this is looking very kewl indeed...glad you moved away from the glowing blue :D
i like it. You might want to round out some of the muscles, they look a little sharp. You could probably do this by moving the high point bulge of the muscle mass away from the low point, slightly. If you continue to work on the face I would recomend putting in some fake eye brows and hair so you can see the features that make it up. By this I mean put some stand in hair, etc so that the face is put in "context" when you model and delete the stand ins afterward. Also you might want to work on the eyes a little bit more, to get the lids looking better. The nose and mouth are nice. Again, I like it !
cheers

Seems like from your wireframe there is a little character dangling from her laces....would be interesting to see what that is....
Looking good tho. Keep it up!

Would have replied sooner, but my PC crashed! No real crits to speak of, this is coming along nicely. On one of your previous images you had a character dangling from her boot laces which you seem to have gotten rid of now though...Keep going, its looking good. :applause:

its comin' along, even tho her body proportions / placement of limbs or something seems weird, aybe hips are really wide, I dunno, modeling is good, hehe, and I still think she has an ass and a half...

Nice to see you're still working on this - you've made a lot of improvements here! I can't see anything obvious to comment or crit on - just nice to see this model again.
