View Full Version : bandsaw function in max ?
is their a bandsawfunction in max so i could cut edges trough the whole mesh in stead of using the cuttool where i always gave to go around the entire mesh to cut extra lines
and is their a way to select 2 ore more vertexes and make a line between them ?
maybe dumb questions to you guys but i ve just started and it would help me a lot and save me a lot of time and tweeking

you could use slice plane (slice( it will auto cut around all the mesh or you could select an edge hit the RING button then hit cut, but now that i think about it that may only work in max 5 also in poly mode (max 5) you can selct to verts and hit connect, if you on an earlier version of makes i suggest downloading the meshtools stuff its really good makes modelling super fast
thx it really helped (i thougt everybody modeled in mesh but i see now poly is much much better ) (is it ?)
i ve messed around a bit with a box and i think i understand the tools in editable poly now (next model definitly in poly )
i think that what you ment with select edge press ring and cut was select edge press ring and press connect instead of cut ?
thx for sharing your knowledge with me

actually there's both.... connect and slice plane.
Go to www.scriptspot.com and download Meshtools 2.5 and csPolyTools. Install meshtools first then run the csPolytools.mzp from within max (run script). Then customize the interface and put the commands into a quad or keyboard shortcut.
Basically an edge ring and connect is the same as bandsaw.
If you want to slide the edge up or down the polys... select edge constraint from the command panel and move the edge.
Poof!! it's all about smoke and mirrors ;)
I hope that helped some
There is also a bandsaw like script called poovsaw get it here (http://members.optushome.com.au/ghra/scripts.htm)
Works pretty good...
