View Full Version : pls help :( ! my CS2 only recognize 1700 mb Ram

hello !
i ve upgraded my Acer 5920 G to 3GB Ram ( 1GB and 2GB slot ) my Vista recognize it well , ( it said memory : 3GB .
but when i go to reference in Photoshop CS2 to config the memory usage , i put it to highest ( 100 %) and it show only 1777 mb Ram . :( i dont know why ?

i have 32 bit win Vista ... does this sound i need 32 bit CS2 or somthing similar as well ?
pls help anyone , i 'd appreciate alot !

Nope. The reason your only able to see that amount of RAM is because of 2 reasons:

1. Any 32-bit OS has a maximum RAM ceiling of 4GB total. That means you could have 20GB of RAM in your system, but the OS will only recognize 4GB max.

2. The reason you can NEVER access 100% of your total RAM is because the computer needs a certain amount of RAM just for the computer to run. Take Vista for instance. On my system, I have 6GB of RAM, but Vista "sets aside" almost 1GB of it just to run the OS, hence, I only have access to around 5.1GB of actual RAM.

Use the /3GB switch in your boot.ini or use windows 64-bit
