I need to render a cube on a plane with the plane having a specific web color so it matches the same color of a website page. The color is light grey R: 204 G: 204 B: 204

The problem is when I render it the spotlight it is changing the color of the background slightly.

Q1) Is there a way to have the light affect only the cube and not the ground plane or to only affect the shadow created by the cube and not the whole plane?

Q2) Also is there a way to have the light light the scene evenly. Right now the light is strongest in the center and falls off towards the edges. Can I set the light to light the scene evenly?

Thanks! :)

To light just the cube, select the light and in the attributes manager, select "scene". You could either exclude the plane, or just include the cube.

To get even lighting, change the omni light or spotlight to an infinite light. (I think)

Q1. Sure. With the Light selected, go to the Attribute Manager's scene tab and use the include or exclude options to limit what it effects.

Q2. Lots of things you could do there. Try an infinite light. Try an area light. Try GI. Try something like Lumen or SkyLight for MoGraph if you have that.

To get the Plane with an even color you could also add a Compositing Tag to it and check Compositing Background.

Hey, that's slick - didn't even know that was there. Thanks, Anders. :)

Also, you don't HAVE to use a light at all. If you are looking for everything extermely even like a vector look, only use the luminance channel of the material and turn off the color channel.
