Hey all, just been doodling this evening, I wasn't going to do much with this, but now I think I might have a go at animating it with a pilot ( I saw happyship's "joust" for the first time today, got inspired ) :)

the steering looks a little rediculous, but thats part of the plan, as I want this thing bouncing all over the place

(does anyone know how to make the wheels of a vehicle spin when they are moved in a direction, so they slow down if the object is moving slowly etc )

Hi !
 I love your work =)

I think that the bestway to make the wheels is to use xpresso.

Please post again

it souldnt be to hard to do that I dont have an exact formula but with maybe 10-20 mins of futzing around with it you should have a decent wheel spin thingy.

nice work squid.

Excellent as always! Seem like I remember somebody working up an Expression to do the Wheel Calc thing. I will try and remember where I saw it and try to get it for you.

Yea, may not be too too stable on corners, but still... it has the makings of a product... fit in any toy box around these parts just nicely... in fact using the back of the seat as a sort of handle, allowing that part to flip up to open to empty compart... and sticking a blade into the turbine area, this would make a mean pencil sharpener sitting on any school desk...

Uh, let's see... X number units per store times X thousands of stores... a few of these and a guy could retire...

The way I see it, if a guy like Chip Foose can design his cars in minature for the "HotWheels" line, then hell yea... make this thing a pencil sharpener... the wheels as erasers and yes, they can buy new "tires" ... gotta keep the change coming in somehgow huh?

haha, looking cool man.... perhaps some sort of spring and torsion system from the pivot to the undercarriage, I dunno, but it really has that product ready look to it...

Happyships 'The Joust' :applause:

Very nice as always :).

I really like the sand/haze. I haven't found out yet how to get nice haze.

Oh and if you are doing car-control in expresso I would really like to know how. It would be excellent if the whole car could automaticly accelerate, decelerate, bank, bounce and spin its wheels by just using expresso, paths and a surface.
Combined with a tp-emmiter to the bottom of the tires, emmiting sand (of course depending on speed, turning and sliding).

I don't know if all that is possible (and I have no experience using expresso) would it would just be great :D.

Link to wheel/track expression (http://www.c4djug.com/expression/ex.html)

This is the expression I remember somebody using. I have not used it so I don't know how well it works but maybe it will at least give you a starting point.

(scroll down the page till you see the tank tracks)

Love the lastest version, How did you create the sand storm in the background?

Wow i love it mate, how do you go about thinking up such creative designs?!

Like that enviorment it looks like the porr guys head is gonna get sucked off when the jet unding starts up lol

Haha true, that was my first impression, but its still awsome.

Keep up the good work :)

Good job. Squid!

At first I thought, this is too cartoony to fit in with your other models.

Then I thought, Cooooool this IS cartoony! I love the style!

Randy Rives' link for the expressions is great! you shoud use it!

Lookin good there Mike, so, that haze, hmmmm..... I might want to do something similar on a less grand scale. hmmmmm....I wonder how someone might do that......

I couldn't get that tank thing to behave properly
but I've managed to get decent wheel setup working with help from Mikael Sterner

download this file this file (http://www.m1k3.com/cgremote/wheel-test.c4d) to see what I mean

select the box and move it forwards and backwards, the wheels should rotate correctly ( the bulk of the work on this is by Mikael, I just added a couple of expresso bits so that wheels turned when they are a child of an object )

download these :)
pelham design shaders (http://www.pelhamdesign.com/shaders/c4d_shaders_v6_7.html)

use the haze texture on a huge box that surrounds the whole scene, then adjust the height of the box until the haze is at a height you like ( I assume this is the correct way of using the shaders, I didn't read the manual :D )

That's funny, I just started doing some little tests on this with expresso. I got the wheels to spin when the (4-wheel) car moves (yay :p), that was easy, but now I want the car to make a turn and let the front wheels steer with it. I can't figure out how to do this.

The file doesn't work for me, I get a message about a plugin I'm missing.
I can see the expresso, and that looks pretty complicated.

I have got a lot to learn about expresso :bounce:

The tank file does work here, but it's COFFEE and I don't know if that will help you.
