Title: A visit to Mother Brain
Name: Wes Louie
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

This image originated from a bunch of sketches I did for last year's 8-bit show in Hollywood at Gallery 1988. I eventually went with a different idea, but I've been wanting to paint one of the sketches that I did while going through the whole process. So, taking some time off in recent weeks, I sat down and finally did some personal art that reminded me of times past.

Nice one. Like the lighting and the ambiance. I want to know more about this 8bit exhibition? I'm guessing it was all digital work?

P.s. The yoda/buddah piece on your site is cool too ;)

Hi, Andrew.

Thanks for the compliments. The image on my PC monitor looks a bit dark, but on my Cintiq( I use that with my macbook), it looks fine. All of these different monitor settings is driving me nuts :)

The 8bit show was probably about 99.5% traditionally painted work and it celebrates the 8bit era of video games. I think one person did a digital print for their gallery piece. I did mine in acrylic and others did theirs in acrylic or oil. There were also sculptures, objects, etc. It was really cool to see all different forms of art there to celebrate the 8bit era of video games.

Ah, yes..the Yoda piece. Glad you liked it!
