Hi Guys,
Could really do with some advice and guidance at the moment. I am a graphic designer by trade and often have to mock up visuals of proposed printed material.

I have been trying to create various textures/shaders (not even sure of the difference) that replicate real world finishes, ie uncoated paper, silk, gloss, mat laminate etc etc. Im even trying to replicate foil blocking.

I have attached two examples. The one with the perla logo is causing me the most grief, as the paper obviously looks really dodgy at the moment so need some advice on how to make it look more like a nice quality uncoated white paper with a silver foil blocked logo! not much huh?! the other is an older render that looks reasonably good for a mat laminate finish.

Any advice or direction is appreciated guys, thanks in advance!

PS - Using Cinema4D 10

Actually, I've met the same problem. And I've solved it. :)

Two ways to get result:

1. Render only objects without textures, but with OS. In Photoshop combine real photos of textures with your models (using warp, perspective distort tools). Believe me, it's very easy and fast way.

2. Get good photocamera (ask your friend, maybe). Take shots of mostly used products (brouchures, papers, b-cards, boxes etc.) They will come very good references to reshape, rebend and retwist for particulary new product with same characteristics. Then you just need to put different logo, color and visual elements (using ps tools).

And, finally, I've just bought good camera (Canon) with different lenses and totally forgot 3D. It's no use of it. You can shoot in different creative ways, using lights as you want in real life! ))
