cermit 04-17-2003, 07:54 PM Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows how to get rid of the sparkles...They are all over the scene...I quess its connected with illumination or something like that :)
Thanks in advance for help :)
here is an example

'sparkles' eh? well i'm guessing your talking about the material but i don't see a problem w/ it
Try using super-sampling on your materials.

Sparkles - I mean unwanted light points around the object and all over the scene...I highlighted only a few of them...

Hmm, could one of two things ...
1) Radiosity or GI, try upping the samples.
2) Caustics running wild. If you're using self-illuminated geometry lights, try photon mapping. It's going to wreck ur render time tho, hee hee.
Good luck!

thanks...
Ive tried to change settings in advanced lighting ->radiosity section..but it did not work....
btw I use brazil render...
If you're using Brazil, changing settings in Advanced Lighting won't do any good, it's in Brazil's options that you need to change settings.

Ok...so what should I do if I use brazil render ??

If you're using the commercial version of Brazil then I suggest you log in on their registered-users forum and ask them there. Someone here might infact be able to help, but this seems like a pretty specific problem with Brazil, and.. what better place to ask about things like that, than the place where everyone knows and cares for Brazil?

I'm not sure what steps you took in your rendering so I can't really pinpoint the problem but here are some troubleshooters anyway.
Under the Luma Server,
1) If you're using GI, increase the "Min" to maybe -2 or -1. Anything above that isn't really worth the render time.
If that fails ...
2) If you're using Indirect Illumination, try turning off "Allow Caustics".
If you really want to have caustics, a better solution will be better to use photon mapping. Do this by using a Brazil Light, in the Photon Map rollout, turn on "Generate Photons". When you render, remember to turn on Caustics under the Photon Map server. Be prepared for looong renders.

this really just looks like a simple undersampling issue, just turn up the samples on the gi and you will be set.
on a side note, jayjun: if you are having slow renders with photons, then perhaps you should check out the tutorials on your account page, as you are probably using them improperly. i personally have found that brazil photon-based gi is about the fastest gi i have ever used.
